after the political and regional transformations that mark the beginning of the end of the salafi era in the region, and in the world, the reputable oxford university in britain said it will organize a conference on the future of salafism, eight months later on dec 5 and 6, 2018.
this relatively distant date may have been chosen to give the subject a sufficient opportunity to make it crystal clear and to illustrate the picture of the sharp and serious expected transitions.
the conference will be held in the midst of british and international attention to study these new changes in which some countries adopt the salafist approach.
the organizers of the conference aim to know and understand how this will affect the form of governance in future and how some ruling families will stand without a religious reference that strengthens their rule over the people.
the conference will discuss topics related to contemporary types of salafism, its relationship to the arab spring, and the position of clerics, wahhabis, from calling for a return to the so-called moderate islam.
personally, i do not expect much arab or islamic interest in the conference.
dr hilal al-sayer, abdullah alhumaidhi, maha al-barjas, walid al-nisf, dr khaled al-sabeeh, fawzia al-qassar and dr mohammed al-nakheelan have succeeded in the elections of the kuwaiti red crescent, through acclamation, since they represent a segment of society we are eager to see what is similar in more than one government institution or a public non-profit society, they are more or and less used by the state.
mrs hind al-subeeh, minister of social affairs and labor has decided to delay the decision to merge the public authority for manpower with the manpower and government restructuring program, which is a due decision.
we do not find any better and more honest person than the current deputy director-general of the public authority for manpower to take over the task, after the merger.
the position of the minister of awqaf and islamic affairs in support of the declaration ‘my hijab is the pleasures of my life’ is not only surprising but worth denouncing.
how can the state or government represented by the awqaf take a position on this extremism and bias towards a part of society against another with regard to an issue that has been and continues to be the subject of controversy for centuries?
is it a curse when we call for a secular state in which the government stands at the same distance from all segments of society? and how did the minister in the name of the ministry, for the first time in political history of kuwait, append the declaration in his name, as if he was expressing his personal opinion from the pocket of the good government?
the supporters of early retirement are either a group of people who are unaware of the serious fi- nancial and social dimensions of the draft law, or know those dimensions but their electoral interests are more important than the future of a nation whose budget is slaughtered at every meeting through the laws of catastrophic populism
we hope and even ask the government to listen only to the opinion of experts of the public institute for social security because they understand the implications of the decision and its cost.
how can we understand the demands of such supporters which will cost the treasury billions as a result of passing this illogical law and at the same time hold the institute responsible for making profits if the law is passed, while it broke its back?
